The CBC Winnipeg Comedy Festival was the brainchild of Al Rae and CBC Radio’s Tom Anniko. Twelve years later, the festival remains one of Winnipeg’s flagship cultural events. The Winnipeg Comedy Festival is proud to be the highest-rated comedy festival series on CBC Television.
Big Daddy Tazz HOST – For more than a decade and a half, Tazz has been delighting crowds at fundraisers, corporate events, festivals and television. He recorded his own Comedy Now! special in 2008 and has appeared in many national festivals including Just for Laughs, the Moncton Comedy Festival and of course, the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. At the 2008 festival, Tazz earned the moniker “Marathon Man of Mirth” after performing an unprecedented 8.5 continuous hours of stand-up.
Peter White – Peter White started performing in comedy at a small upstairs bar in Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2005, and has been moving upward ever since. After performing for less than a year, he was named one of the top five “up and coming” comics in Canada by CBC Radio One’s “So, You Think You’re Funny?”, a national radio program designed to seek out the best unknown comedic talent from across the country.
Matt Nightingale – Matt Nightingale is a stand-up comic from Winnipeg whose act has been described as “inappropriate for a funeral setting”. A regular guest at Rumor’s Comedy Club, Matt has appeared in the Winnipeg Fringe Festival, the Winnipeg Improv Festival, and was invited to perform at the 2013 Just For Laughs Winnipeg Showcase. He hopes to one day own a slow cooker.
Starring Peter White, Matt Nightingale and Tim Nutt. Hosted by Big Daddy Tazz
Tim Nutt – Tim Nutt is a comic who can’t be judged by his cover. Long-haired, bearded and “rough around the edges” audiences expect Nutt’s material to match. But he surprises with razored-down punch lines and well conjured-up premises that place him as one of the top comics working today. Tim’s way of cutting through the Nonsense of everyday life has made him a favorite comic across the country. Tim is happy to be making his fourth Winnipeg Comedy Festival appearance.
Tickets on sale for Players Club Members February 24, General Public February 26.
