Presenter: Katia Hildebrandt, Faculty of Education, University of Regina Abstract: This presentation outlines Katia Hildebrandt’s doctoral research, including methods and results. The research uses a postcritical ethnographic methodology to examine the discourses that shape preservice teachers’ understandings of digital identity construction in order to better understand and deconstruct students’ perceived barriers to discussing controversial issues related to anti-oppressive education in open online spaces. The Theory and Method Seminar Series provides a forum for educators and students to discuss theory and method, research, and current initiatives in education. While designed to support grad students, it is also a series that can help keep faculty up-to-date on emerging methodologies. Faculty and students are encouraged to attend. Everyone is welcome. Coffee is provided. No registration is required. More information: http://www2.uregina.ca/education/news/?page_id=132
