Nicole Moeller: Playwright Reading

Based in Edmonton and a graduate of MacEwan’s Journalism and Theatre Arts programs, Nicole Moeller is a playwright whose work transcends the borders of genre. Her plays include: Without You, My Gay Husband. What an Asshole, An Almost Perfect Thing, Powder and Erostratus, an adaptation of the short story by Jean-Paul Sartre. Her short story ‘The Girl in the Snowshoes’ is published in the anthology 40 Below. A member of Citadel Theatre’s playwright’s forum in 2011/2012 and again in 2014, Moeller is the recipient of the Outstanding New Play Sterling Award, the Gwen Pharis Literary Award for Drama, the Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund Award and Germany’s ‘Neue Theaterstücke aus Kanada’ National Competition official selection. Her play An Almost Perfect Thing is published by Playwrights Canada Press, has been translated into German and has received productions in Dresden, Sommerhausen and in Munich. Her play The Mothers was part of the National Play Reading Series at Nightwood Theatre’s Groundswell Festival and in March 2015, it will receive its premiere with SkirtsAFire in Edmonton.
