Come out to listen as Solomon Ratt, Associate Professor of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics with First Nations University of Canada, reads from his new book with the University of Regina Press, Woods Cree Stories! Take in wit-infused tales of lost boys, friends and foes, animal scat, and buffalo “wings”–and learn lessons of respect, honour, and responsibility. Share in keeping a variety of the Cree language alive and seeing it flourish. Woods Cree Stories is part of the U of R Press’s First Nations Language Reader Series. Each title in the series introduces a different aboriginal language through a mix of stories, both traditional and new. To help spread these voices to teachers and learners everywhere, the U of R Press aims to expand this series to include every one of the 60+ aboriginal languages spoken in Canada today. Interested in finding out more? Come out to the launch and meet this author as well as Series Editor Arok Wolvengrey and Press Director Bruce Walsh!

This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one, the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap, the being a force of nature instead of a feverish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.
George Bernard Shaw
