Position Summary:
The Walk Campaign City Vice Chair is an exciting leadership role position that enables you to contribute your skills and time towards something an annual fundraising campaign and signature event, while working with and supporting a team of dedicated volunteers. The City Vice Chair is appointed by the City Chair and will work in collaboration with the City Chair, National Chair, volunteers and sponsors to organize and execute a World Partnership Walk in their local community.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist the City Chair in building, motivating and leading a core team of volunteer leaders in the following areas: Ambassador Engagement, Volunteer Engagement, Corporate Engagement, Marketing and Communications, Walk Day Experience, Logistics, and Finance
- Work with the City Chair to oversee the implementation of the aforementioned portfolios’ strategies within the agreed guidelines
- Appropriately recruit, manage, recognize, and motivate all volunteers, keeping in mind identifying key volunteers for succession planning of City Core Committees
- Chair regularly scheduled Core Committee meetings if City Chair is not available
- Provide support to the City Chair to prepare and seek approval of the local Walk budget and monitor as appropriate. Monitor progress and adjust plan of action where necessary
- Engage new and existing Ambassadors, Donors, and Corporate Sponsors and work with volunteers to ensure successful stewardship and retention Consult with AKFC staff and City Chair on diversifying WPW’s fundraising programs, expanding the donor base and raising significant funds by tapping into their network to engage new sponsors and donors
- Lead walk day operations and management while the Chair is undertaking public relations Support to the City Chair by providing on-going Walk Campaign updates and reports as required, along with a post-Walk evaluation report

- Experience as a Manager, leading and inspiring people
- Experience as a project manager
- Resourceful and flexible
- Strong people management skills
- Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a team environment
Time Commitment:
The City Vice Chair is appointed by the City Chair to assist with WPW in the local community. The planning of the Walk typically begins at least 8 months in advance of the Walk. The time commitment is an average of 3 hours per week from July-December and an average 8 hours per week during January–June. In addition there is one weekend conference held annually during October. This volunteer position is for an appointment of one year with an option to extend to two years
