A Health Equity Perspective for Health Policy and Quality Improvement

Presented Dr. Cory Neudorf, Chief Medical Health Officer, Saskatoon Health Region and Assistant Professor, Department of Community Health & Epidemiology, University of Saskatchewan Strategic planning documents in Healthcare often mention the need to focus on improving the health of the population and decreasing health inequities, yet health policy makers and senior executives often struggle to implement these approaches systematically. This presentation will discuss the theoretical frameworks for integrating these approaches into the health system, and present implementation examples from Saskatchewan and other jurisdictions. Examples will be drawn from health and intersectoral approaches through reporting and monitoring/auditing, as well as changes to program delivery and policy.
