Presenters: Prof. Lyle Benko, Dr. Paul Kolenick, Dr. Roger Petry and Dr. Garth Pickard, Faculty of Education, University of Regina ABSTRACT Since 2007, when Saskatchewan was designated as the Regional Centre of Expertise (RCE) on Education for Sustainable Development, it has represented the local, regional, national, and international interests and research on sustainable education principles. The SK RCE now exists as part of the global network of over 120 RCE’s worldwide, offering mentorship to new RCE’s. The original Decade on Environmental Sustainability Development will transform into a United Nations Global Action Program (GAP) with its inauguration and formation in November 2014 in Okayama, Japan at the United Nations University. Our past work and upcoming opportunities with the United Nations University GAP will provide our U of R community and region with several research and learning synergies in the very near future. An overview of the past years and connections to these opportunities will be presented for discussion. Everyone is welcome. Coffee and cookies are provided. No registration is required.
