Please join us on Friday, January 31 at 3:30 p.m. in RC 050 for the first presentation of Winter Term’s FAPS by Rachelle Viader Knowles Translocating art practice Rachelle Viader Knowles will present her current research project, On speaking terms: a translocal approach to dialogue-based art, across social and technical networks, which proposes the addition of art practice to the list of disciplines contributing to the growing field of translocality research. In April 2013, she participated in the Mallorca Translocal Meeting, a group art residency and networking event. Organized by Marcos Vidal Font, the MTM brought together a network of organizations from Bulgaria, the UK, Armenia, the Netherlands and Spain, each with a mandate to develop peer-to-peer, artist-run cultural projects that bypass standard art-world hierarchies and emphasize mobility, communications, and cultural exchange. This experience has furthered her understanding of how ideas of translocality are currently being deployed within contemporary art. Rachelle Viader Knowles is an artist, researcher and educator and Head of Visual Arts at the University of Regina.
