What has the media taught you about Islam? How do you pronounce the words “Muslim”, “Qur’an”, and “Muhammad”? Are all Muslims terrorists? What does Islam have to say about women’s rights, environmental sustainability, and war? These are all questions you may have thought of before but may not have had an outlet to have these questions answered. Now’s your chance! In a growing multicultural and vibrant society, it is critical to teach yourself about the various ethnic cultures and religions. It makes communicating with people easier and it is extremely important to understand other people’s world views. From January 20 to 24, U of R’s Muslim Students’ Association will be hosting an exhilarating Islam Awareness Week featuring dynamic exhibits, free learning material, and engaging lectures. Visit our Facebook page for more information on specific times, locations and details of daily events throughout the week!
