Opportunity Description:

The ALS Society of Saskatchewan hosts an annual ALS National Youth Retreat in our beautiful prairie province.  The Retreat is offered to young adults between the ages of 15-30 who are affected by a loved one diagnosed with or that has passed away from ALS.

The weekend provides an opportunity for these people to connect, share and relate in their experiences. The skills learned and friendships made throughout the weekend provide key tools to assist with coping with the realities of this devastating disease.  We provide accommodations, activities and meals to the participants attending the Retreat.  Some activities we have planned in past Retreats were:

  • mindful meditation and yoga
  • sharing circles and grief counseling
  • team building activities and crafts
  • music & pet therapy
  • attending a Roughriders Game

This year’s 2019 ALS National Youth Retreat is scheduled for Aug 22-25.

We are recruiting volunteers for:

  • Committee Members to help with the planning of the 2019 Retreat
  • Volunteers for HotDog BBQ sale on June 29 & 30
  • Volunteers & chaperones for the Retreat weekend
  • Volunteers to facilitate an activity at the Retreat (ie – pottery making)

If you are looking to volunteer for a fun and meaningful experience this might be it!  Give us a call or email us, or apply online! ALS Volunteer Application Form
