We are very excited to be launching two programs in Regina this fall, bringing us to 28 programs in 12 Canadian cities, bringing the game of hockey to young people the furthest removed from it.
We will be offering a weekly Wednesday After School Program directly available to boys and girls living in the North Central neighbourhood for whom sport is not an option due to financial barriers. We will also be offering a weekly Saturday morning program specifically intended for aspiring players living with Cognitive & Physical challenges that to date have prevented them from playing the game of hockey.
While our programs are built around hockey, our goal is not to produce elite players. Rather it is to use the chance to be on the ice to increase our participants sense of self esteem, self worth, belonging and inclusion in their community.
We are looking for a volunteer team with a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds. Hockey knowledge isn’t a must, some of our volunteers never set foot on the ice. Rather it is being genuine, compassionate, caring and empathetic in your approach, while understand the powerful impact sport can have on a young persons life away from the arena.
