YMCA Plusone Mentoring is looking for adults willing to donate/volunteer a portion of their time to mentor a youth aged 10-17 that may be struggling a bit socially, behaviorally, or academically. You could be the difference in a young persons life, all they need is for one adult to champion and believe in them.
General Information:
Time commitment: only 1-year (2/3 hours a week for the first 6 months, gradually decreasing to 4/6 hours per month towards the 1-year mark).
Where: one of the local YMCA of Regina Locations. You will have access to YMCA of Regina facilities during the time of your relationship.
When: on-going – from whenever you start and get trained onward for 1-year.
Training: each mentor is trained extensively by YMCA of Regina Plusone Staff (8 hours) before being eligible to volunteer for the program. Training & support is ongoing during the course of relationship from Plusone Support Staff to Mentors/Mentees.
How will you be matched: youth are referred to the program by various community partners and are matched with a mentor based on common hobbies & interests, and also the mentors ability to facilitate growth based on the mentee’s goals for the program.
Program goal of 40 matches going at any time.
