About the Walk

The Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History takes place in over 40 locations in Canada including Regina.  We rely on the energy, passion and skill of our generous volunteer to help make a difference in communities from coast-to-coast.  If you have a few hours a week in the months leading up to Walk Day on Sunday, May 26th, 2024 – we want to hear from you!

Position Overview

The Walk/Event Chair provides the motivational and organizational leadership for the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History in your community. He/she recruits a committed group of volunteers to execute a successful and safe event.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits and trains a committee of volunteers that includes a lead for each of the core committee positions (i.e. logistics, volunteer, marketing and communications, and fundraising and sponsorship), and filling the additional committee member positions, if required.
  • Along with CF Canada staff, create a realistic budget and critical path based on templates provided by CF Canada
  • Works with individual committee members to ensure the completion and quality of the key areas of responsibilities, monitor overall progress and recruit resources as needed.
  • Communicating goals and ensuring goals are achieved as economically as possible
  • Scheduling and conducting monthly committee meetings interspersed with regular phone calls and emails to follow up on action items from meetings
  • Act as or designate a spokesperson for the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History in your community.
  • Acts as the liaison between your local committee and CF Canada staff.
  • Through strong leadership – delegate, motivate and lead committee members and event day volunteers
  • Recruit walkers and teams
