Awarded MOST OUTSTANDING PRODUCTION at the 2016 London Fringe Festival ★★★★★ “MORIN-ROBERT’S GREATEST STRENGTH IS THAT SHE MAKES YOU, THE AUDIENCE MEMBER, FALL IN LOVE WITH HER. SHE TELLS HER STORY IN AN INTOXICATING WAY – BRINGING THE AUDIENCE TO A CRESCENDO OF LAUGHTER, ONLY TO KNOCK THE WIND OUT OF YOUR EMOTIONAL SAILS AND HAVE YOU ON THE VERGE OF TEARS. ” –Theater In London Regina, Sk. June 13th 2016 – Following sold out performances across Canada, comedian, award-winning storyteller and critically acclaimed choreographer, Stéphanie Morin-Robert presents BLINDSIDE at the Artesian as part of the Regina Fringe Festival, July 6th-10th 2016. This award-winning physical comedy is Stéphanie’s personal account of growing up with cancer and a glass eye, and the struggle of overcoming that disadvantage. Integrating live video projection with riveting comedic storytelling, Stéphanie recounts her life as a feisty 7-year-old who wields her disability as a weapon. BLINDSIDE is a raw, elegant and literally eye-popping comedy. After a successful run in Orlando and London, BLINDSIDE continues to tour North America with stops not only in Regina, but also in Winnipeg and Edmonton. When a prospector makes a massive diamond discovery, it forces his daughter, a young and sheltered cancer patient with a prosthetic eye, to change schools in the middle of the third grade. While her family members are distracted by their luxurious new lifestyles, she struggles with finding the confidence it takes to face the torment of her bullies at her new school. With the help of her cat, a pair of sunglasses, and an undesirable superpower, she discovers that she has what it takes to fight back and come to terms with her disability. “SO GOOD IT REVIVES ONE’S FAITH IN THE POSSIBILITY OF THEATRE AND ALL OF ITS MAGIC.” -Rover Arts, Montreal “Changing schools in the middle of the third grade was one of my most frightening experiences ever. During most of the first year at this new school of mine, I didn’t tell ANYONE that I had a glass eye because I was ashamed and insecure. It remained my secret… until my glass eye started to have a mind of its own by often falling out during the most unpredictable and embarrassing moments. Until I discovered that having a glass eye was more like having an unattractive super power against all bullies and child-hating teachers. Until I starting digging and digging deeper into my childhood memories and put together this show. Until now.” – Stéphanie Morin-Robert Stéphanie is a Canadian interdisciplinary artist, producer, and critic whose productions bring together artists across provinces and genres. Her unique heartwarming humor appeals to those of all ages and fosters an intimate and inclusive environment. Stéphanie is dedicated to spreading anti-bullying awareness and self-acceptance with workshops and performances. Her work has been celebrated at festivals in every major Canadian city.
