A Journal of Travel and Encounters in French America

What could motivate an English-speaking Mormon American to spend his life in Quebec, following the paths of voyageurs and coureurs de bois, fur trade workers, Catholic missionaries, explorers and settlers and searchers for gold and oil? What interest drives him to seek out the French-speakers of America and track them to the most hidden corners? As they travel along with our guest speaker, the audience will gain some answers to these questions and discover an America with a distinctly French accent. Dean Louder retired in 2003, after having been a professor at Laval University’s Department of Geography. He is a member of the Ordre des francophones d’Amérique and continues to travel America on the trail of America’s Francophones.
