This event will showcase Saskatchewan’s living heritage including: • Dance, music, and poetry; • Keynote address by Dr. Richard MacKinnon (Canada Research Chair, Intangible Cultural Heritage, Cape Breton University) entitled “Living Heritage Stories from the East, Lessons for the West”; • Panel discussion entitled “Where Does it get Real”; • Presentations throughout the day by the JSGS Policy Shop addressing the question of “Why hasn’t Canada signed on to the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage?” ; • Presentations by University of Regina students showcasing their research on Eco-Museums or “museums without walls”.
