Mr. Michael Doucet, Executive Director of the Security Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC), will present a 45-minute presentation with time after for Q&A on the following: – SIRC’s role and mandate, including the three pillars of our work (reviews, the certificate, and complaints) – The legal and procedural guidelines surrounding the activities of CSIS and how SIRC ensures that CSIS operates within those parameters – Privacy in relation to national security and how SIRC works to ensure that the privacy of Canadians is respected by our security intelligence service, something SIRC has been doing since its inception in 1984 – Technology and information sharing as an issue not only within the security community, but in the context of the pressure on the intelligence community, including review agencies, to share information with the public – Insider threat – Cyber security within the Government of Canada Michael Doucet is the Executive Director of the Security Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC). He received his MBA from the University of Ottawa, with specialization in strategic change, compensation and information technology management.
