Lecture by Benjamin Tal, Deputy Chief Econonist, CIBC World Markets

The Department of Politics and International Studies invites you to a talk by one of Canada’s most prominent economists. Benjamin Tal is the Deputy Chief Economist of CIBC World Markets. Mr. Tal is a regular commentator on financial and economic trends and has been featured prominently in the media in both Canada and the United States. He’s been described as one of Canada’s leading experts on the real estate market by the International Monetary Fund. Mr. Tal will be speaking to Dr. Nilgun Onder’s third-year Global Governance: International Organizations class and you’re invited as well. Mr. Tal will talk about the post-recession economy, how it is different and what the new normal is. “The economy that is emerging from the great recession is a different economy with different rules. Understanding those rules is essential for succeeding in the new environment,” says Mr. Tal. Following the presentation, members of the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions.
