ReMeasure

ReMeasure is a dynamic remix of Shakespeare’s play Measure for Measure. Adapted and directed by faculty member Kathryn Bracht, this revisioning of one of Shakespeare’s “problem plays” is set in a cabaret-like club in present day, and explores our current social mores through an impetuous pop-culture lens. Billed as a work in progress, ReMeasure draws inspiration culled straight out of today’s headlines. The double nature of ReMeasure’s Duke Angelo can be compared to the fall of popular media darlings Bill Cosby and Jian Ghomeshi, and the recent acceptance of gay marriage in countries such as Ireland and the USA, coupled with the very public transitioning of sports hero Bruce Jenner from man to woman – all of these events coalesce to inspire this very current exploration of Shakespeare’s play. Ambitious and vibrant, ReMeasure endeavors to challenge your expectations and leave you highly entertained! (This play contains mature themes.)
