Did you know that over 2000 federal scientists have been fired over the past 6 years? From cutbacks in research funding to the muzzling of government scientists, from library closures to the erosion of environmental protections, many argue that evidence-based decision-making, and even science itself, are under attack. The U of R Women in Science and Engineering and Evidence for Democracy are sponsoring a screening of the CBC’s documentary Silence of the Labs to engage voters in the upcoming election. The screening will be followed by an update on cutbacks since the documentary was broadcast in January 2014, as well as a discussion on what we can do about it. Admission is free.

The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.
