50 years ago, a group of 30 faculty members from the University of Saskatchewan – Regina Campus held a faculty retreat to discuss the role of the liberal arts at the University. Out of those discussions, the participants produced an “Education Policy for the Liberal Arts,” more commonly known as the “Regina Beach Manifesto.” To commemorate this event and discuss the current and future role of the liberal arts at our University, “The Liberal Arts at the University of Regina: Looking Back and Moving Forward” will feature keynote speakers as well as a panel discussion by faculty members. The event will also include an open question and answer session. The two keynote speakers will be Dr. Jack Boan, Professor Emeritus of Economics, and Dr. David Helfand, President and Vice-Chancellor of Quest University. The panel discussion will feature Dr. Philip Charrier (Department of History), Dr. Shauneen Pete (Faculty of Education and Executive Lead – Indigenization) and Dr. Sean Tucker (Faculty of Business Administration). A reception will follow the event, and everyone is welcome to attend. Free parking in Lot 9
