Everyday Sunday, The Comeback Society team gathers at Regina Food Bank to cook 200-300 meals. These meals are made up of Soup and Bannock during the winter time (depending on season often meals will consist of items such as soup, sandwich, bannock, pasta salads, vegetables, etc.)and handed out on location in the downtown Regina area (Victoria park). Serving 100 plus people on site and the remainder meals are disturbed throughout the community fridges. This program is run by our amazing team of volunteers. An important partnership was created in 2022 with the Regina Community Fridge and Warriors of Hope Community Support Inc to expand the project to Core Community Park on 11th avenue.
How it all works and the opportunity for YOU to be part of this amazing project:
Meal preparation is done at the Regina Food Bank located at 445 Winnipeg Street from 12pm to 4pm by the first crew. A group of 5-6 people is needed weekly.
Meal distribution takes place at Victoria Park (across from the Centre Regina Public Library) and at Core Community Park (1219 11th Ave, Regina, SK,S4P). The second crew of volunteers are to present themselves at the Regina Food Bank to help finish packaging and pick up meals at 4pm. Serving happens from 4:30pm until approximately 5:30pm or when supplies are exhausted (whichever comes first).
We can not wait to meet you!! #mutualaid #forcommunity #bycommunity
