About the Walk

The Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History takes place in over 40 locations in Canada including Regina.  We rely on the energy, passion and skill of our generous volunteer to help make a difference in communities from coast-to-coast.  If you have a few hours a week in the months leading up to Walk Day on Sunday, May 26th, 2024 – we want to hear from you!

Position Overview

The Marketing & Communications Lead is responsible for the creation and implementation of a promotional and media plan for the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History taking place in Regina.  The goal is to ensure that the community is both aware and excited about having the event in Regina.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the Walk throughout the community
  • Along with Walk/Event Chair, acts as a local contact for media (TV, Radio and Newspaper) pre-event and weekend of the event
  • Uses social media to keep the Walk top of mind with participants and the community
  • Distributes Walk information to all community calendars, community newspapers and cable television
  • Help to source local human-interest articles, radio PSAs etc.
  • Act as a media liaison at the Start/Finish location
  • Work in conjunction with your Walk/Event Chair/CF Staff to acknowledge the community’s support for the event by sending out post-event thank you letters to all sponsors
  • Along with Sponsorship Lead/Volunteer Lead/CF Staff, assist as a local contact answering or directing all communications for sponsors, activities & volunteers.
  • Along with CF Staff work to re-engage past Walk participants and invite new people to participate
  • Along with CF Staff work to build on planned activities, connecting with interested parties and help them understand why Walk matters and how they’ll benefit from participating
  • Providing support and ideas to teams and participants to encourage online fundraising to reach individual and team goals
  • Holding team captain meetings leading up to the event
  • Participating in call campaigns for retention and fundraising coaching
