Youth Soccer Coach – Volunteer Opportunity

Do you enjoy soccer and working with children? Wascana FC is inviting enthusiastic individuals to join our volunteer coaching team and help create a fun, positive, and supportive soccer experience for players aged 5–12. This is an opportunity to share your passion for the game while helping young athletes develop their skills, confidence, teamwork, and love for soccer.

This rewarding volunteer role provides an opportunity to mentor young athletes, develop coaching skills, promote teamwork, and foster a lifelong love of soccer in a positive and supportive environment.

Schedule & Availability

Volunteer coaching opportunities are available during the following times:

• Friday: 5:45 PM – 8:15 PM
• Saturday: 5:45 PM – 9:15 PM

A minimum commitment of 1 hour per day is expected.

You do not need to be available for the entire time block. Volunteers may indicate the period that works best for them, whether that is:

• 1 hour
• 2 hours
• The full available time
• Or another available period within the listed schedule

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead engaging soccer practices appropriate for children aged 5–12 and different skill levels.
• Teach fundamental soccer skills, techniques, rules, and sportsmanship.
• Organize and supervise youth games, ensuring a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment.
• Provide encouragement and constructive feedback to help players build confidence and improve their skills.
• Work collaboratively with other coaches and program staff to coordinate practices, games, and program activities.
• Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes teamwork, respect, discipline, and enjoyment of the sport.
• Help create an environment where every child feels welcomed, supported, and encouraged to participate.
• Assist with program activities and other duties related to youth soccer programming as required.

Qualifications & Experience

• Previous experience coaching youth sports is preferred but not required. Training and guidance will be provided.
• Knowledge of basic soccer fundamentals and techniques is an asset.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage, encourage, and motivate children.
• Passion for working with children and promoting healthy, active lifestyles.
• Reliable, responsible, and committed to creating a positive experience for young athletes.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team.
