The selected volunteer should be available for the complete 1-hour session on each scheduled day.Applicants should confirm their availability for both program periods when applying.WHAT YOU'LL DOLead fun, engaging, and age-appropriate basketball sessions for children aged 5–17.Teach fundamental basketball skills, rules, and game concepts.Introduce participants to dribbling, passing, shooting, ball handling, footwork, and basic defensive skills.Organize drills, games, and activities appropriate for different ages and skill levels.Encourage participation, teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship.Provide positive encouragement and constructive feedback.Help children develop confidence, coordination, movement skills, and a love for basketball.Maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment.Supervise participants throughout each session.Work collaboratively with other coaches and program staff.Assist with equipment setup, organization, and other program activities as required.WHO WE'RE LOOKING FORThe ideal volunteer will:Enjoy working with children aged 5–17.Have an interest in or knowledge of basketball.Have previous basketball coaching, playing, teaching, mentoring, or youth sports experience — an asset, but not required.Be patient, positive, responsible, and dependable.Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.Be comfortable leading activities for groups of children.Be enthusiastic about helping young athletes learn and improve.Promote healthy, active lifestyles and positive sports experiences.Formal coaching experience is not required.
