Opportunity Description
Are you between 12 and 30 years old, and interested in driving positive environmental change
while building new skills? Join our youth-focused environmental initiatives to promote local
biodiversity, conserve nature and stop the spread of invasive species with Invasives Canada's
Youth Eco-Stewards (YES) program. This is an opportunity to engage with your community,
gain practical skills from hands-on work experience, as well as strengthen your leadership
skills and environmental network.
Your role and responsibilities as a YES participant can be tailored to your unique
interests where you can join our exploratory or career development stream. All we ask is you
complete 120 service hours with us. The timeline for completing these hours is flexible, and
most opportunities are asynchronous to fit into your schedule.

• Eco Missions with five flexible stages to progress through
• Asynchronous courses and certifications
• Green Career Panels & Webinars
As a participant, you also have the option to design and lead your own project. The project
scale and scope are flexible, and is something you can discuss with your regional coordinator
after you've completed the on-boarding forms. Some examples include leading a Bio Blitz,
creating a social media account to share pictures and info with the public; monitoring the
health of a watershed, or designing an activity booklet for children. Your opportunities are
endless, and the YES team is able provide financial support to see your project come to life.
Program Requirements:
• Be between the ages of 12 to 30 years old.
• Identify as a new Canadian, permanent resident, claimed refugee status in Canada, or be
a Canadian citizen.

Youth Eco Stewards - Invasives Canada
Animals & Environment
Youth Eco-Stewards is an initiative of Invasives Canada funded by Canada Service Corps. We previously ran a pilot project in 2024 called Youth Nature Keepers. This program provides youth between 12-30 years old with the opportunity to remotely learn about the environment, invasive species, and biodiversity at their own pace. Additionally, it offers funding support to attend conferences or register for certifications, which is geared towards youth looking to boost their Green Career
