Youth Eco Stewards - Invasives Canada
Are you between 12 and 30 years old, and interested in driving positive environmental change while building new skills? Join our youth-focused environmental initiatives to promote local biodiversity, conserve nature and stop the spread of invasive species with Invasives Canada's Youth Eco-Stewards (YES) program. This is an opportunity to engage with your community, gain practical skills from hands-on work experience, as well as strengthen your leadership skills and environmental network. Your role and responsibilities as a YES participant can be tailored to your unique interests where you can join our exploratory or career development stream. All we ask is you complete 120 service hours with us. The timeline for completing these hours is flexible, and most opportunities are asynchronous to fit into your schedule. Program Opportunities: • iNaturalist BioBlitz Challenge • Eco Missions with five flexible stages to progress through • Asynchronous courses and certifications • Green Career Panels & Webinars As a participant, you also have the option to design and lead your own project. The project scale and scope are flexible, and is something you can discuss with your regional coordinator after you've completed the on-boarding forms. Some examples include leading a Bio Blitz, creating a social media account to share pictures and info with the public; monitoring the health of a watershed, or designing an activity booklet for children. Your opportunities are endless, and the YES team is able provide financial support to see your project come to life. Program Requirements: • Be between the ages of 12 to 30 years old. • Identify as a new Canadian, permanent resident, claimed refugee status in Canada, or be a Canadian citizen.
