Lou Gramm: The Voice of Foreigner (Casino Regina)
Category: Live MusicDates: July 25, 2016 - July 25, 2016
Powerhouse vocalist and songwriter Lou Gramm can be heard each and every day, all over the world, on Radio, iPods, CD players, television commercials, music videos, and of course… jukeboxes. He has become the voice of a generation.
Among the most distinctive and powerful voices to emerge from Rock and Top 40 radio, Gramm – the lead vocalist and co-writer of the multi-platinum band Foreigner – as well as a successful solo artist in his own right – remains one of the most recognizable performers in music today.
Lou Gramm, the vocalist on 20 Top 40 singles, which continue to drive sales of nearly 80 million albums worldwide, exploded onto the international music scene with Foreigner on the chart topper, “Feels Like The First Time,” in 1977. The stats are impressive – Eight Top 5 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and Five Top 5 Albums on the Billboard Top Album chart in the U.S alone! Lou Gramm is in a class by himself.
Now, nearly three decades after the debut of Foreigner and chart-topping success as a solo artist, Lou Gramm returns with a hot new band and a dynamic live show featuring 90 minutes of his own unique brand of Rock’n’Roll.
“I was the lead vocalist for Foreigner for 26 years,” says Gramm. ”I am enormously proud of this, and the music I have made with Foreigner is still a big part of my solo shows. However, with this line up, I can also perform my own music and the hit records I have had as a solo artist. I even throw a few curve balls, such as my take on a Beatles classic like ‘You Can’t Do That.’ In the end, I believe the fans are getting a better show.”
Whether they are rocking out on classics like “Hot Blooded” or “Juke Box Hero,” or rolling out a new extended groove on Gramm’s massive solo hit, “Midnight Blue,” Lou and his band have been pleasing enthusiastic audiences since January of 2004 with a show that captures the essence of Gramm’s talent.

Category: Live MusicDates: July 19, 2016 - July 19, 2016
There were the pioneers who took Scottish Rock international and paved the way for the many other great Scottish bands that came later… The likes of Big Country, Simple Minds, etc.
From 1971 till now Nazareth have recorded 23 studio albums, earning them platinum, gold and silver awards throughout the world with 3 platinum and 8 gold albums coming from Canada alone.
Their latest release, Rock’n’Roll Telephone (2014) was described by one music press critic simply as “one more masterpiece” so we’ll just leave it at that.
The lineup today consists of Jimmy Murrison, Lee Agnew, Pete Agnew and new singer Carl Sentence who joined the band in 2015 after Dan McCafferty had to retire due to ill health.
Reviewing one of the first shows with Carl performing as lead singer, a member of the Rock press confirmed what the band members already agreed that: “He fits right in as a man on a mission to prove his worth and totally nails it. He has mastery of the material and wears the songs like an old leather jacket”.

Awarded MOST OUTSTANDING PRODUCTION at the 2016 London Fringe Festival ★★★★★ “MORIN-ROBERT’S GREATEST STRENGTH IS THAT SHE MAKES YOU, THE AUDIENCE MEMBER, FALL IN LOVE WITH HER. SHE TELLS HER STORY IN AN INTOXICATING WAY – BRINGING THE AUDIENCE TO A CRESCENDO OF LAUGHTER, ONLY TO KNOCK THE WIND OUT OF YOUR EMOTIONAL SAILS AND HAVE YOU ON THE VERGE OF TEARS. ” –Theater In London Regina, Sk. June 13th 2016 – Following sold out performances across Canada, comedian, award-winning storyteller and critically acclaimed choreographer, Stéphanie Morin-Robert presents BLINDSIDE at the Artesian as part of the Regina Fringe Festival, July 6th-10th 2016. BLINDSIDE is a raw, elegant and literally eye-popping comedy. After a successful run in Orlando and London, BLINDSIDE continues to tour North America with stops not only in Regina, but also in Winnipeg and Edmonton. When a prospector makes a massive diamond discovery, it forces his daughter, a young and sheltered cancer patient with a prosthetic eye, to change schools in the middle of the third grade. While her family members are distracted by their luxurious new lifestyles, she struggles with finding the confidence it takes to face the torment of her bullies at her new school. With the help of her cat, a pair of sunglasses, and an undesirable superpower, she discovers that she has what it takes to fight back and come to terms with her disability. “SO GOOD IT REVIVES ONE’S FAITH IN THE POSSIBILITY OF THEATRE AND ALL OF ITS MAGIC.” -Rover Arts, Montreal “Changing schools in the middle of the third grade was one of my most frightening experiences ever. During most of the first year at this new school of mine, I didn’t tell ANYONE that I had a glass eye because I was ashamed and insecure. It remained my secret… until my glass eye started to have a mind of its own by often falling out during the most unpredictable and embarrassing moments. Until I discovered that having a glass eye was more like having an unattractive super power against all bullies and child-hating teachers. Until I starting digging and digging deeper into my childhood memories and put together this show. Until now.” – Stéphanie Morin-Robert Stéphanie is a Canadian interdisciplinary artist, producer, and critic whose productions bring together artists across provinces and genres. Category: Other EventDates: July 9, 2016 - July 9, 2016
It’s hard to believe that the rowdy Irish Americans got started way back in 1991, but for the past 30 years the group has maintained a high profile – topping the billboard charts as a group and with solo efforts. It was a turn of a new decade when House of Pain changed the face of Hip-Hop with their self-titled debut album, going multi-platinum and launching one of the most memorable songs in hip-hop history with “Jump Around”. Now it’s the start of another new decade and House of Pain is ready to do it all over again; the group aims to bring their fiery live show to fans all over the world, reclaim the throne as hip-hop’s best and celebrate what has allowed their successes over the past 20 years – the fans. Since House of Pain disbanded back in 1996, the members have kept their star power and went on to huge successes. Everlast has maintained an incredibly successful solo career that includes a triple platinum album, multiple top 10 hits (including “What It’s Like”) and a Grammy for the song “Put Your Lights On” which was recorded with Carlos Santana. Danny Boy changed focus from music to art and launched an extremely successful art company, multiple clothing lines and ultimately brought the reunion about by forming the group La Coka Nostra that featured the original lineup from House of Pain alongside Rappers Slaine and Ill Bill. After experiencing all of the solo success, it becomes obvious that House of Pain isn’t a group reforming to cash in on current musical trends. House of Pain is reforming because of the passion that y they have for their music. They are back to celebrate with their fans across the 20 years that have spawned tremendous success and undying anthems of rebellious teenagers everywhere. They are back to show young fans everywhere just how raucous and dirty Hip-Hop can be – to prove that it doesn’t matter your age, race, religion or whether you’re into Hip-Hop, Rock or Metal. House of Pain has crafted a 20-year legacy that speaks to fans from all walks of life.

Anecdotal Evidence: The Work of Gerald Saul (University of Regina)
Category: Other EventDates: July 7, 2016 - July 7, 2016
Anecdotal Evidence: The Work of Gerald Saul is a retrospective of the 30-year career of Regina-based filmmaker and educator Gerald Saul. Saul has taught Film Production in the Department of Film at the University of Regina since 2000. The exhibition is Station 6 on the larger curatorial project Meet in the Middle: Stations of Migration and Memory Between Art and Film (Regina, 2014-2017), a partnership between Dr. Christine Ramsay (Film), Strandline Curatorial Collective and the MacKenzie Art Gallery. Saul's oeuvre represents an eclectic contribution to lens-based storytelling. Existing between dramatic, experimental and animated forms, his works in film, digital video and photography engage live fragments of everyday life and their fabulation, sourced autobiographically and from others' personal histories. He is interested in memory and forgetting as he struggles to capture the anxieties and ephemerality of identity--both his own personal identity, and his shared prairie roots. With their characteristic flatlander irony, his works drift dreamily between fiction and fact, imagination and conviction, anecdote and evidence. Anecdotal Evidence is conceived as an archive of Saul's prolific creative process which can be read as a gesture in "cinematic note-taking" in which the artist hovers over reams of ideas until some are hatched. Kim Mitchell (Casino Regina)
Category: Live MusicDates: June 24, 2016 - June 24, 2016
Singer songwriter and guitarist, Kim Mitchell, has achieved gold and multiplatinum sales status over a long and storied career, starting early on as leader of the musically eclectic Max Webster, a band who in the late 70’s defined “alternative” and “independent” long before the words became clichés. Mitchell has sold over 1.5 million recordings and toured regularly over a lengthy solo career that remains creatively vibrant to this day. Along the way he won three Juno Awards for “Most Promising Male Vocalist of the Year”, “Album of the Year” and “Male Vocalist of the Year”. In the late 70's and through all of the 80's Kim toured the largest arenas in the country and today continues to perform at festivals, casinos and Performing Arts Theatres nationally. He is a gifted and peer-respected guitar player as well as an acclaimed songwriter, having penned and recorded classic hits like “Go For Soda”, “Rock N Roll Duty”, “Patio Lanterns”, “I am a Wild Party”, “Easy To Tame” and “All We Are”, to name just a few -all songs that have become part of the Canadian musical landscape. Add several new songs from his most recent solo recording “Ain’t Life Amazing” (including the national rock radio hit of the title track), and audiences are thrilled to find that participating in a Kim Mitchell concert is like being at the live recording of a greatest hits box set which includes his solo hits and Max Webster gems like “Diamonds Diamonds”, “Oh War”, and “Battlescar”, a hard rock anthem as poignant today as it was three decades ago when it was recorded with his friends Alex, Geddy and Neil of RUSH. In 2004, while maintaining a busy touring schedule, Mitchell was invited to join the on air staff at the CORUS flagship station Q107 in Toronto, giving Kim his first ever day-job and one that he excelled at. July 31, 2015 marked the end of an 11 year journey hosting the Kim Mitchell show. Mitchell has the respect of peers, fans, and industry types alike. Just what does he consider his greatest achievement? “Shoot, that’s easy,” says Kim, “it’s in the couple of hours the band is onstage, being able to take people to a special place through our performance and music. When that happens, I’ve accomplished what I set out to do.” Legions of Canadian fans agree!

Category: Other EventDates: June 21, 2016 - June 21, 2016
Presented by Len Edwards, Distinguished Fellow, Centre for International Governance Innovation, and former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Government of Canada Few nations have advanced so rapidly and presented such scale of opportunity and challenge as Indonesia, which is projected to be the 7th largest economy in the world by 2030. Yet, in Canada, Indonesia has received only sporadic attention from senior policy makers and the business community. CIGI's Special Report entitled "Innovation and Change: Forging the New Canada-Indonesia Partnership" sets out why Indonesia is relevant to Canada, highlights the challenges and opportunities we face in pursing our relationship and assesses the drivers underlying our bilateral ties and engagement. Above all, this report lays out a path forward and provides a series of recommendations for concrete steps that are needed if the gap between performance and potential is to be closed. Canada's future prosperity depends on our capacity to tap into the growth of emerging economies such as Indonesia. Burton Cummings and Band (Casino Regina)
Category: Live MusicDates: June 2, 2016 - June 2, 2016
One of the most celebrated artists in Canadian history, Cummings’ remarkable career as a performer, singer, songwriter and recording artist has spanned over five decades and garnered a myriad of awards and accolades, including seven JUNO Awards.
In April 2016, Cummings will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the 2016 JUNO Awards. Cummings is a member of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame through his band, The Guess Who (inducted in 1987).
With Canada’s original rock ‘n’ roll superstars The Guess Who, Cummings, as lead singer and songwriter, scored an unprecedented string of international hit singles and albums. Striking out on his own in 1976, Cummings continued his winning streak with a gold record for his debut solo single, “Stand Tall” produced by legendary hit-maker Richard Perry, who numbered among his clients including Barbra Streisand, Carly Simon and Ringo Starr. The choice of producer was evidence of Cummings’ star power in the music industry. He followed that with more than a dozen hit singles and albums including “I’m Scared”, “I Will Play a Rhapsody”, “Timeless Love”, “Break It To Them Gently”, “Fine State of Affairs”, “You Saved My Soul”, “My Own Way To Rock” and “Dream Of A Child”.
Sold out tours across Canada and the United States solidified Cummings’ stature as a top attraction. He starred in several top-rated television specials and earned five JUNO Awards between 1977 and 1980. His 1978 album, Dream Of A Child became the first quadruple platinum-selling album by a Canadian artist. Through the ‘80s and ‘90s Cummings continued to tour and joined The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr in his All Starr Band.
Tickets on sale for the general public February 25.
